Vaezi Talks Free Trade, Economic Cooperation with Eurasia

The Communication and Information Technology Minister stated in his meeting with the Trade Minister of the Eurasia Economic Union that: “Iran and the Eurasia Economic Union intend to move toward establishing free trade within the next two years.”

 ICT’s PR department reports that, Dr. Mahmoud Vaezi, the Iranian Minister of Communication, met this morning with Andrey Slepnev, the Trade Minister of the Eurasia Economic Union, expressing that: “The 11th Iranian government is very keen on expanding relations with regional countries and based on this special interest, we are looking to increase cooperation with the members of Eurasia Economic Union.”

He continued describing the negotiations with the Eurasia delegation, expressing that: “In this session, we discussed the topic of the North-South corridor and the revival of the Silk Road.”

The Communication Minister included that: “The Eurasia Union has gone through an evolutionary process from the day of its establishment to this very date, and continue to increase its activities.”

Dr. Vaezi added that: “The Eurasia Economic Union has a special interest in developing cooperation with major Asian countries such as China, India, and Iran.”

Dr. Vaezi stated that: “Because of the sanctions and bans imposed by Western and European countries against Russian products, Russia in its turn has put a ban in place against European agricultural products, thus creating a good opportunity for Iran.”

He expressed that: “Also in this session, negotiations were carried out regarding lowering of tariffs, and increasing commercial and economic trade and relations, and it was decided that agreements would be signed between Iran and this Union.”

The ICT Minister included: “Similarly, agreement was made to take the final step in developing relations between Iran and The Eurasia Economic Union by moving toward establishment of free trade.”

He went on to say: “Both parties agreed to appoint representatives to follow up the agreements and accelerate relation development.”

Andrey Slepnev, the Trade Minister of the Eurasia Economic Union, likewise stated that: “In today’s meeting, we managed to achieve a great thing for a great undertaking, and all temporary agreements will be changed into permanent agreements.”

He included that: “Many steps were taken for increasing the level of bilateral cooperation, and we expect to reach the desired level of cooperation as soon as possible.”

The Eurasia Trade Minister concluded by saying: “Both parties are going to make great efforts for expanding relations, and that’s why we are going to start developing our economic cooperation in a very little while.”
