PR of the Ministry of ICT – Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) was held to follow a five year review of the progress made in the implementation of and follow-up to the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) outcomes at the regional and international levels with the head of countries, International organizations and public associations in Switzerland.
Reviewing the progress made in the implementation of and follow-up to the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) outcomes at the regional and international levels as well as enhanced cooperation about general policies about Internet are the subjects discussed in this congress.
The other cases posed in CSTD are “Gender and Science and Technology”, “Improvements and innovations in existing financing mechanisms” and “new and emerging technologies”.
This report mentioned that Abdolmadjid Riazi, deputy of strategic planning and control, as Iran representative in this congress restated: “There should be an agreed and implemented a coherent viewpoint to a world without discrimination and with equitable communication and IT accessibility as well as relative knowledge all over the world”.
He continued that therefore the developing countries are able to utilize their talent and capacity to have active present in all field of Information Society.
Riazi called Internet Dispensation and its substantive resources as the important subjects and said: “Up to now some positive developments are implemented by ICAN contains supportive actions of technical committee which are responsible for domain names in high level of civil code in different languages but it is required to have in view a targeted and more effective way to finalize the implemented efforts”.
According to this report “Internet Dispensation Association” and “Enhanced Cooperation” are the important subjects for discussion and Iran suggestions in Internet Dispensation and Science & Technology were inserted in final resolution of the congress by the implemented efforts of Iranian delegation.
Also explaining the position of women in Science & Technology in Iran and presenting the strategic documentary of national IT system are the other efforts done by Iranian delegation in 13th Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD).
